Therapy For ‘Cryptocurrency Addicts’ Offered By A Scottish Clinic

Do you obsessively watch the prices in CoinMarketCap all day long to trade in cryptocurrency – to an extent where you neglect other important things? Do you anxiously wait to buy the dips and sell the highs? Does the idea of taking a break from cryptocurrency trading annoy you?



If the answer to all of the above is yes, then you might be suffering from Cryptocurrency Addiction.
Medical science hasn’t recognized this problem yet, but Castle Craig Hospital in Peebleshire, Scotland’s largest addiction treatment facility, is running a program to treat people who are addicted to trading cryptocurrencies.

This medical facility already has several treatment courses for drugs and alcohol addicts. Now it is offering a residential treatment program for cryptocurrency junkies based on techniques that are used to tackle gambling addicts.



Experts at the facility say that cryptocurrency trading addicts exhibit behavioral problems that are similar to online gamblers. They obsessively follow minute-by-minute price fluctuations.

“The high risk, fluctuating cryptocurrency market appeals to the problem gambler,” says Chris Burn, a gambling therapist at Castle Craig Hospital.

“It provides excitement and an escape from reality. Bitcoin, for example, has been heavily traded and huge gains and losses were made. It’s a classic bubble situation.”




Currently, there are no exact stats available for the demographic addicted to crypto-trading, but millions of people across the world are involved in this trade. So one can imagine the number of people who have succumbed to this addiction.
